Our Story

Built From a Real Problem

AskAccountant began on March 14, 2026, when co-founder Joven accompanied his girlfriend, Kath, a lawyer listed to AskAbogado.PH, attended the AskAbogado.PH's VAWC event at the Tandang Sora Women's Museum. Kath was volunteering her time to provide free legal aid and consultations to women affected by violence.

Seeing AskAbogado.PH connect people with legal professionals led Joven to a related question: accountants and CPAs solve equally important problems, so why was there no equally accessible online bridge between them and the clients who needed their help?

A week later, Joven studied the Philippine market and existing ways of finding accounting support. As both a CPA and a programmer, he saw an opportunity to build a dedicated portal where clients could reach accounting professionals more easily. In early April, he began documenting the product plan with fellow CPAs and co-founders Norberto "Bert" Corneja and Adrian Cedeño.

Development of the initial prototype followed a week later. Kath suggested ways to strengthen the concept, and Joven's accounting colleagues tested the thinking against real client and practitioner needs. After roughly two months of building, gathering feedback, and refining the experience, the web app was ready to launch publicly.

That's AskAccountant — built in the Philippines, for the Philippines.

The Idea Takes Root

While accompanying Kath, his girlfriend and a lawyer, to an AskAbogado.PH event at the Tandang Sora Women's Museum, co-founder Joven saw her volunteer free legal aid for women affected by violence. The experience raised a question: could accountants have a similar platform for helping people reach the right professional?

Validating the Need

A week later, Joven researched the Philippine market and the ways clients currently find accounting help. He found a meaningful access gap and documented the case for a dedicated online bridge between clients and accountants.

Turning the Idea Into a Plan

Drawing on his work as both a CPA and a programmer, Joven began shaping the product and documenting how it should work. Fellow CPAs Norberto "Bert" Corneja and Adrian Cedeño joined him as co-founders, bringing decades of accounting and financial leadership to the plan.
